Louise Erdrich（ルイーズ・アードリック、1954年生まれ）は、アメリカの小説家、詩人、児童文学作家。ダートマス大学卒業後、ジョンズ・ホプキンス大学で創作を学んだ。ドイツ系アメリカ人の父と、チペワ（オジブウェ）族をルーツに持つ母のもとに生まれ、その文化的背景を生かした作品で国際的に高い評価を受けている。ネイティブ・アメリカンの歴史や共同体、家族、記憶、アイデンティティを豊かな物語性と詩情あふれる文体で描き、現代アメリカ文学を代表する作家の一人とされる。2020年刊行の『The Night Watchman』は、祖父の実体験に着想を得て、1950年代のアメリカ先住民政策を描いた歴史小説として高く評価され、2021年のピューリッツァー賞 フィクション部門を受賞した。著書に『Love Medicine』『The Beet Queen』『The Round House』『LaRose』『The Night Watchman』などがある。

Louise Erdrich (born 1954) is an American novelist, poet, and children's author. After graduating from Dartmouth College, she studied creative writing at Johns Hopkins University. Born to a German American father and a mother of Ojibwe (Chippewa) heritage, Erdrich draws deeply on Native American history, culture, and storytelling traditions in her fiction. Widely regarded as one of the most important contemporary American writers, she explores themes of family, memory, identity, and the enduring resilience of Indigenous communities through richly layered narratives and lyrical prose. Her novel The Night Watchman (2020), inspired by the experiences of her grandfather and the struggle against U.S. termination policy in the 1950s, won the 2021 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction. Her other notable works include Love Medicine, The Beet Queen, The Round House, and LaRose.
