ルイーズ・アードリック（1954年–）は、アメリカの小説家、詩人、児童文学作家。ミネソタ州に生まれ、ノースダコタ州で育った。オジブウェ族のタートル・マウンテン・バンドに属し、先住民共同体の歴史、家族、土地、信仰を、多世代・多視点の物語として描いてきた。オジブウェ族の二つの家族を軸にした『ラブ・メディシン』（Love Medicine）で全米批評家協会賞を受賞。先住民居留地で起きた犯罪と司法制度の限界を描く『The Round House』（未邦訳）で2012年全米図書賞、連邦政府による部族解体政策に抵抗した祖父をモデルとする『The Night Watchman』（未邦訳）で2021年ピュリッツァー賞を受賞した。ミネアポリスでは、先住民文学を中心に扱う書店バーチバーク・ブックスを経営している。
Louise Erdrich (1954–) is an American novelist, poet, and children’s writer. Born in Minnesota and raised in North Dakota, she is an enrolled member of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians. Her fiction portrays the histories, families, lands, and spiritual traditions of Native communities through multigenerational narratives and multiple points of view. “Love Medicine,” centered on two interconnected Ojibwe families, received the National Book Critics Circle Award. “The Round House,” which examines a crime on a reservation and the limits of the justice system, won the 2012 National Book Award for Fiction. Inspired by her grandfather’s resistance to the federal government’s tribal termination policy, “The Night Watchman” won the 2021 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction. Erdrich also owns Birchbark Books, a Minneapolis bookstore specializing in Native literature.
