Moyoco Anno (born 1971) is a Japanese manga artist from Tokyo. Since making her professional debut in Bessatsu Friend in 1989, she has explored romance, work, beauty, history, and fantasy, depicting women’s desires, conflicts, and relationships with society. Her series "Sugar Sugar Rune" received the 29th Kodansha Manga Award. Her representative work, "Hataraki Man," centers on magazine editor Hiroko Matsukata and her colleagues, presenting achievement, frustration, conflicts between work and private life, and differing reasons for pursuing a career through multiple characters’ perspectives. Rather than treating total devotion to work as the only ideal, the manga examines contrasting attitudes toward advancement, personal life, and leaving a profession; it was adapted into both an anime and a live-action television drama.
