Miko Yasu is a Japanese manga artist and former police officer. After serving in a prefectural police force for approximately ten years, she left the profession in 2017 to become a full-time manga artist. Her representative work, “Police in a Pod,” follows rookie officer Mai Kawai and Seiko Fuji, a former detective reassigned to a neighborhood police box. Drawing on Yasu’s professional experience, the series depicts patrols, traffic enforcement, interviews, criminal investigations, and victim support, while also examining exhausting working conditions, relationships within the police hierarchy, and the trauma carried by officers and crime victims. The manga received the 66th Shogakukan Manga Award in the General category and the 46th Kodansha Manga Award in the General category. It was adapted into a television drama in 2021 and an anime series in 2022.
