Yann Martel (born 1963) is a Canadian novelist. Born in Spain to a Canadian diplomatic family, he spent much of his childhood in different countries, an experience that has shaped his interest in religion, philosophy, and the power of storytelling. In 2002, he won the Booker Prize for "Life of Pi." His best-known novel, "Life of Pi," follows the extraordinary journey of a boy stranded on a lifeboat with a Bengal tiger, exploring faith, survival, and the transformative power of stories.
