Kazumi Yasuhara is a Japanese translator of English-language fiction, history, and science. She graduated in Western history from the University of Tokyo’s Faculty of Letters. Her new translations of Fredric Brown’s collected science-fiction stories introduce the author’s inventive premises, humor, and carefully constructed endings across a wide range of short forms. Donald P. Ryan’s guide to ancient Egypt presents daily life, beliefs, and monuments through the format of a travel handbook. In Eliot Higgins’s “We Are Bellingcat,” she translates an account of investigations that use publicly available images and data to examine real-world events. Her work spans imaginative literature and nonfiction that explains methods of understanding the world.
