略歴（Biography）
山本真理子（やまもと まりこ、1926–） 日本の児童文学作家。和歌山市に生まれ、父の転任に伴って各地で暮らしたのち、1944年に一家で広島へ移住。1945年8月6日、広島市で原爆に被爆した。戦後、創作活動を続けるとともに民話の採集にも取り組んだ。代表作『広島の姉妹』（英題 "Sisters in Hiroshima"）は、自身の被爆体験をもとに、原爆投下によって日常を奪われた姉妹と家族の姿を描いた児童文学で、1945年8月6日の広島で市民が経験した惨状と、その後を生きる人々の苦しみを子どもの視点から伝えている。
Mariko Yamamoto (1926–) A Japanese children's author born in Wakayama. After moving frequently with her family because of her father's military assignments, she settled in Hiroshima in 1944 and experienced the atomic bombing of the city on August 6, 1945. After the war, she pursued creative writing while also collecting Japanese folk tales. Her best-known work, "Sisters in Hiroshima," is a work of children's literature based on her own experience of the atomic bombing. Through the story of two sisters and their family, it depicts ordinary lives shattered by the bombing and the suffering endured by civilians in Hiroshima during and after August 6, 1945.
