Hiroki Yamamoto (born 1986) is a Japanese cultural studies scholar and art historian. He is an associate professor at Jissen Women’s University. His research examines modern and contemporary art in relation to war, colonialism, migration, discrimination, and other social and historical forces. After graduating from Hitotsubashi University, he earned an MA from Chelsea College of Arts and a Ph.D. from the University of the Arts London, and later conducted research at institutions including the Asia Culture Center in South Korea and Hong Kong Polytechnic University. His representative work, "Gendai Bijutsushi: Ōbei, Nihon, Toransunashonaru," reconsiders postwar art beyond separate Western and Japanese narratives, tracing transnational movements of people and ideas, the legacies of colonial rule in East Asia, and artistic responses to poverty, discrimination, war, and natural disaster.
