略歴（Biography）
山口 誠（やまぐち まこと、1973–） 観光研究者、メディア研究者。獨協大学外国語学部教授。専門は観光研究、メディア研究、歴史社会学で、近代以降の旅行文化や観光の歴史、メディアと社会の関係を研究している。海外旅行や観光文化の変遷を歴史的・社会学的な視点から分析し、日本における観光のあり方を問い直す著作を数多く発表している。代表作『観光を忘れた日本』は、日本の観光の歴史をたどりながら、インバウンド時代における「観光離れ」の背景と、観光の社会的な役割を考察した著作として知られている。
Makoto Yamaguchi (born 1973) is a Japanese scholar of tourism and media studies and Professor at Dokkyo University. His research focuses on tourism, media, and historical sociology, with particular attention to the history of travel culture and the relationship between media and modern society. Through historical and sociological analyses, he explores how tourism has evolved in Japan and what role it should play in contemporary society. His best-known work, "Kanko o Wasureta Nihon" ("Japan That Forgot Tourism"), examines the historical development of tourism in Japan and considers the social significance of tourism in the age of inbound travel.
