Keiichi Yamamoto is a personal trainer whose work focuses on strength training and physical and mental conditioning. He began training independently in junior high school and pursued both exercise and Zen during high school. After graduation, he joined Japan’s Self-Defense Forces, receiving a commander’s award during introductory reconnaissance training. He subsequently entered the fitness industry and worked in fitness clubs before becoming an independent trainer. Alongside individual coaching for executives and other working adults, he trained professional instructors, gave lectures, and wrote about fitness. In “Shigoto ga Dekiru Hito wa Naze Kintore o Suru no ka” (2008), he treated physical training as a business skill and discussed exercise in relation to concentration and mental readiness, together with adherence, diet, sleep, and effective use of gyms. “Byoki Shirazu no Undoho” extended his practical guidance to middle-aged and older adults. Using photographs, it presented exercises, stretches, and walking techniques requiring little special equipment, with an emphasis on whole-body movement and the stamina needed for outings, travel, and sport. His 2013 book “Umaku Itte Iru Josei ga Jikko Shite Iru: Karada to Kokoro o Totonoeru Shukan” addressed women’s everyday routines through three themes: regular daily rhythms, eating habits, and habitual movement. Following the Great East Japan Earthquake, he also participated in sports support for children in Ishinomaki, Miyagi, and organized the runners’ community-service initiative “Kutsuhimo Charity.”
