Shigeki Uno (born 1967) is a Japanese political scientist and Professor at the Institute of Social Science, The University of Tokyo. His research focuses on the history of political thought, political philosophy, and French political thought, with particular emphasis on democracy, liberty, the public sphere, and liberalism. Drawing on the intellectual traditions of modern Europe, Uno examines the challenges and possibilities of democracy and civil society in the contemporary world. Through his books and public scholarship, he continues to foster thoughtful discussion on democracy, citizenship, and political ideas for both academic and general audiences.
