塚本勝巳(つかもと かつみ、1948–) 魚類学者、水産学者。東京大学名誉教授。ウナギをはじめとする回遊魚の生態や進化、資源保全を専門とし、ニホンウナギの産卵場を世界で初めて特定するなど、ウナギ研究を大きく前進させたことで知られる。『うなぎ 一億年の謎を追う』は、長年にわたる調査研究をもとに、ウナギの回遊や産卵、生態に秘められた謎を解き明かし、その保全の重要性をわかりやすく伝えている。
Katsumi Tsukamoto (born 1948) is a Japanese ichthyologist and fisheries scientist. Professor Emeritus at the University of Tokyo, he specializes in the ecology, evolution, and conservation of migratory fishes, particularly eels. He is widely recognized for leading the research that identified the spawning area of the Japanese eel in the western Pacific. His best-known book, "Unagi: Ichioku Nen no Nazo o Ou" ("Eels: Pursuing a Hundred-Million-Year Mystery"), draws on decades of field research to explain the eel's remarkable life cycle, migratory behavior, and the scientific efforts to protect this endangered species.
