Yoichi Takahashi (born 1960) is a manga artist from Tokyo’s Katsushika ward. He made his debut with a short version of “Captain Tsubasa” in 1980 and began serializing it in Weekly Shonen Jump the following year. The story of Tsubasa Ozora and his teammates pursuing their football ambitions became an anime and a game franchise, and inspired footballers in Japan and abroad. Takahashi has also created manga about other sports, including the baseball series “Ace!” In 2024, he ended the series’ magazine run. He now publishes “Captain Tsubasa: Rising Sun FINALS” online as rough pages showing the panel layouts and dialogue. He also serves as owner and president of Nankatsu SC, a football club based in Katsushika.
