Yoichi Takahashi (born 1955) is a Japanese economist and former official of the Ministry of Finance. After studying mathematics and economics at the University of Tokyo, he held positions including counselor at the Cabinet Office and counselor at the Cabinet Secretariat, contributing to postal privatization, government-affiliated financial institution reform, and civil service reform. He is a professor at Kaetsu University and chairman of the Policy Research Institute, specializing in macroeconomics, fiscal policy, and monetary policy. His book “Saraba Zaimusho! Kanryo Subete o Teki ni Shita Otoko no Kokuhaku,” an account of bureaucratic decision-making and government reform, received the 17th Yamamoto Shichihei Prize.
