竹田 純子（TAKEDA Junko）- 翻訳家

竹田 純子は、科学や自然を扱う図鑑・ビジュアル本から、歴史・社会の一般書まで訳す翻訳家。『地球のいきものをめぐる旅』では、北極の海から熱帯雨林まで、異なる環境に生きる動物を図版とともに紹介する本を訳した。2025年の『まるごとわかる！ 世界の乗りもの大図鑑』は、自動車、鉄道、船、航空機、宇宙ロケットの内部構造や働きを写真やCGで説明する図鑑である。一方、マイケル・ベリーの『「武漢日記」が消された日』では、中国の感染症流行下での日記の翻訳と、それをめぐる言論への圧力を記録した著作を訳している。

Junko Takeda translates illustrated reference books on science and nature as well as general nonfiction on history and society. Her translation of John Woodward’s account of Earth’s animals follows wildlife through habitats ranging from Arctic seas to tropical forests. The 2025 Japanese edition of DK’s illustrated transport reference explains the structures and operation of cars, trains, ships, aircraft, and spacecraft through photographs and computer-generated images. Takeda also translated Michael Berry’s account of translating Wuhan Diary, which records the translation process and the pressures on public expression surrounding the diary during the coronavirus outbreak in China.
