Madoka Takadono (born 1976) is a Japanese novelist, manga writer, and screenwriter from Hyogo Prefecture. She made her debut in 2000 after receiving an Encouragement Prize at the Kadokawa Gakuen Novel Awards. Her work ranges across fantasy, historical fiction, and mystery, as well as novels about professions and workplaces such as tax offices and department stores. Her representative novel, "Grand Chateau," received the Osaka Honma Book Award and follows Lou, a young woman who runs away from home, and Shinju, the leading hostess at a cabaret in Osaka’s Kyobashi district, tracing their relationship, working lives, and the transformation of the neighborhood over approximately three decades.
