Douglas Stuart (born 1976) is a Scottish novelist. Raised in Glasgow, he worked as a fashion designer in New York before turning to fiction. In 2020, he won the Booker Prize for his debut novel, "Shuggie Bain." His best-known novel, "Shuggie Bain," is set in 1980s Glasgow and follows a young boy growing up with his mother, who struggles with alcoholism, portraying poverty, family love, and the resilience of human dignity.
