ダロン・アセモグル（Daron Acemoglu、1967年 - ） トルコ出身の経済学者。マサチューセッツ工科大学（MIT）教授。制度が国家の繁栄や経済成長、技術革新に与える影響を研究する第一人者であり、政治経済学と制度経済学の分野で世界的な影響力を持つ。2024年には、制度が経済発展に果たす役割に関する研究への貢献により、サイモン・ジョンソン、ジェームズ・A・ロビンソンとともにノーベル経済学賞を受賞した。代表作『国家はなぜ衰退するのか――権力・繁栄・貧困の起源』は、国家の豊かさを左右するのは地理や文化ではなく、包摂的な政治・経済制度であると論じ、世界各国の歴史をもとに繁栄と衰退のメカニズムを解き明かした一冊である。
Daron Acemoglu (born 1967) is a Turkish-American economist and Institute Professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). A leading scholar in political economy and institutional economics, his research explores how institutions shape economic development, technological progress, and long-term prosperity. He was awarded the 2024 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences, together with Simon Johnson and James A. Robinson, for research on the role of institutions in economic development. His best-known book, "Why Nations Fail: The Origins of Power, Prosperity, and Poverty," argues that inclusive political and economic institutions are the fundamental drivers of national prosperity, drawing on historical evidence from around the world.
