Theodore H. Theodore H. White (1915–1986) was an American journalist, historian, and author. After graduating from Harvard University, he worked as a foreign correspondent in China, reporting on the Second World War and the Chinese Civil War. He later transformed political journalism with his influential "The Making of the President" series, which offered unprecedented behind-the-scenes accounts of U.S. presidential campaigns. His groundbreaking "The Making of the President 1960," chronicling the election contest between John F. Kennedy and Richard Nixon, won the 1962 Pulitzer Prize for General Nonfiction. His other notable works include "Thunder Out of China," "The Mountain Road," the "Making of the President" series, and "In Search of History."
