Osamu Senna translated nonfiction on history, society, and culture. Born in Tokyo in 1936, he graduated in journalism from Sophia University and worked in magazine editing at the publishing division of the Asahi Shimbun. His translation of Niall Ferguson’s The Ascent of Money traces the development of banking, bonds, insurance, and other financial institutions within world history. Edward Wang’s Chopsticks: A Cultural and Culinary History follows the origins and spread of chopsticks and their place in East Asian society. Senna also translated the second edition of Dan Buettner’s The Blue Zones, a reported study of food, everyday activity, and social relationships in long-lived communities.
