関谷 英里子（SEKIYA Eriko）- 同時通訳者、翻訳家

関谷 英里子は、同時通訳、翻訳、英語教育に携わる人物。慶應義塾大学経済学部とスタンフォード大学経営大学院で学び、伊藤忠商事、ロレアルを経て同時通訳サービスを展開した。アル・ゴアやダライ・ラマ14世などの講演を通訳し、NHKラジオ「入門ビジネス英語」の講師も務めた。『ビジネスパーソンの英単語帳』では、仕事の場で使う語彙を具体的な表現として扱い、『関谷英里子のビジネスパーソンの英文メール術』では目的に応じて文面を組み立てる方法を説明する。『同時通訳者の頭の中』では、話を聞きながら別の言語で表現する仕事の思考過程を取り上げている。

Eriko Sekiya works in simultaneous interpreting, translation, and English education. She studied at Keio University’s Faculty of Economics and Stanford Graduate School of Business, and worked at Itochu and L’Oréal before developing a simultaneous interpreting service. Her assignments have included speeches by Al Gore and the Fourteenth Dalai Lama, and she taught NHK Radio’s introductory business English course. Her business vocabulary book treats words through expressions used at work, while her guide to business email explains how to organize messages around their purpose. Doji Tsuyakusha no Atama no Naka examines the thinking involved in listening to speech while expressing its meaning in another language.
