斉藤 隆央（saito takao）- 翻訳家

斉藤 隆央（さいとう たかお、1967年–）は、生命科学、物理学、宇宙論などの科学書を訳す翻訳家。東京大学工学部工業化学科を卒業し、化学メーカー勤務を経て翻訳を専業とした。ニック・レーンの『ミトコンドリアが進化を決めた』『生命の跳躍』『生命、エネルギー、進化』などを継続して翻訳し、生物の進化をエネルギーと細胞の仕組みから捉える議論を紹介してきた。『生命は変換の環である』（原題 “Transformer”）では、代謝と生体分子の化学変換を軸として、生命の誕生、老化、がんを考え直す著作を訳している。また、ミチオ・カクの宇宙論や量子コンピュータを扱う著作、オリヴァー・サックスの『タングステンおじさん』なども手がけ、科学の概念と発見の過程を伝えている。

Takao Saito (born 1967) is a Japanese translator of science books, including works on biology, physics, and cosmology. He studied industrial chemistry at the University of Tokyo and worked for a chemical manufacturer before becoming a full-time translator. His translations of several books by Nick Lane explore the relationship between evolution, cellular organization, and energy. In “Transformer: The Deep Chemistry of Life and Death,” he translated Lane’s reconsideration of the origins of life, aging, and cancer through metabolism and chemical transformations. Saito has also translated books by Michio Kaku on the universe and quantum computing, as well as Oliver Sacks’s “Uncle Tungsten,” connecting scientific ideas with the experiences behind discoveries.
