沢木耕太郎(さわき・こうたろう、1947年生まれ)は、日本のノンフィクション作家、エッセイスト、小説家。横浜国立大学卒業。大学卒業後にルポライターとしてデビューし、鋭い観察眼と端正な文章で日本のノンフィクション文学を切り開いた。人物ルポ、スポーツ、旅、歴史、写真など幅広いテーマを手がけ、事実に基づきながら文学性豊かに描く独自の作風で世代を超えて読み継がれている。『テロルの決算』で大宅壮一ノンフィクション賞、『一瞬の夏』で新田次郎文学賞、『深夜特急』でJTB紀行文学大賞、『凍』で講談社ノンフィクション賞、『キャパの十字架』で司馬遼太郎賞、『天路の旅人』で読売文学賞を受賞。2003年には長年の業績により菊池寛賞を受賞した。著書に『敗れざる者たち』『深夜特急』『檀』『春に散る』『天路の旅人』などがある。

Kotaro Sawaki (born 1947) is a Japanese nonfiction writer, essayist, and novelist widely regarded as one of the pioneers of modern literary nonfiction in Japan. After graduating from Yokohama National University, he began his career as a freelance reporter, earning acclaim for his elegant prose, penetrating observation, and innovative approach to narrative journalism. His work spans biography, sports, travel, history, and fiction, blending meticulous reporting with literary craftsmanship. He received the Oya Soichi Nonfiction Award for "Terror no Kessan" ("The Settlement of Terror"), the Jiro Nitta Literary Award for "Isshun no Natsu" ("A Summer in an Instant"), the JTB Travel Literature Award for the "Midnight Express" trilogy, the Kodansha Nonfiction Award for "To" ("Frozen Lives"), the Ryotaro Shiba Prize for "Capa's Cross," and the Yomiuri Prize for Literature for "Tenro no Tabibito" ("The Traveler on the Heavenly Road"). In 2003, he was also honored with the Kikuchi Kan Prize for his outstanding contribution to Japanese literature. His other notable books include "The Defeated," "Midnight Express," "Dan," "Haru ni Chiru" ("The Last Bloom"), and "The Traveler on the Heavenly Road."
