ザラ・チョードリー（Zara Chowdhary） インド出身の作家、教育者。チェンナイ生まれ。映画、広告、テレビ業界で脚本や制作に携わった後、創作活動に専念し、現在はアメリカで創作と教育に携わっている。宗教的暴力、記憶、家族、アイデンティティをテーマとするノンフィクションやエッセイで注目を集め、2025年にはシャクティ・バット賞を受賞した。代表作『The Lucky Ones』（未邦訳）は、2002年のグジャラート暴動でイスラム教徒として生き延びた自身の体験を軸に、家族の歴史とインド社会における宗教対立、民主主義の脆弱さを描いた回想録である。2024年を代表するノンフィクションの一冊として高い評価を受けた。
Zara Chowdhary is an Indian writer, educator, and former media producer. Born in Chennai, she worked in film, advertising, and television before turning to creative writing, and now teaches in the United States. Her work explores religious violence, memory, family, identity, and the lived experience of contemporary India. She received the 2025 Shakti Bhatt Prize for her debut memoir. Her *The Lucky Ones* recounts her experience as a sixteen-year-old Muslim during the 2002 Gujarat riots, weaving personal history with a broader examination of communal violence, democracy, and belonging in modern India. Widely acclaimed upon publication, the memoir was named one of the best nonfiction books of 2024 by several major publications, including *TIME*.
