Simon Schama（サイモン・シャーマ、1945年生まれ）は、イギリスの歴史学者。ロンドン生まれ。ケンブリッジ大学で歴史学を学び、同大学、オックスフォード大学を経て、現在はコロンビア大学歴史学部教授を務める。近世ヨーロッパ史、オランダ史、フランス革命、芸術史を専門とし、政治、文化、美術を横断する幅広い視点から歴史を描くことで知られる。1989年刊行の『Citizens: A Chronicle of the French Revolution』で国際的な評価を確立し、その後も『Landscape and Memory』『Rembrandt's Eyes』『The Story of the Jews』など数々の話題作を発表した。また、BBCの歴史・美術ドキュメンタリー番組の司会・脚本も数多く手がけ、歴史を一般の人々にわかりやすく伝える優れた歴史家として世界的に高く評価されている。
Simon Schama (born 1945) is a British historian and public intellectual. Born in London, he studied history at the University of Cambridge before teaching at Cambridge and the University of Oxford. He is currently University Professor of History and Art History at Columbia University. Schama specializes in early modern European history, Dutch history, the French Revolution, and the history of art, and is renowned for weaving politics, culture, and visual art into richly textured historical narratives. He achieved international acclaim with Citizens: A Chronicle of the French Revolution and has since published influential works including Landscape and Memory, Rembrandt's Eyes, and The Story of the Jews.
