Mado Saito is a Japanese manga artist born in Tokyo and based in Kagawa Prefecture. Saito began creating and publishing manga online around 2018 and later contributed work to magazines including "Monthly Comic Beam." The stories approach supernatural phenomena and giant creatures not only as objects of fear but also as mysteries to be understood through observation and investigation. Saito’s representative work, "Kaijū o Kaibō Suru," is a science-fiction manga about Akira Honda, a young monster researcher assigned to examine the corpse of “Tokyo,” a giant creature approximately 210 meters long that once devastated the Tokyo metropolitan area. Akira, herself a survivor of the disaster, encounters parasites living inside the body, unexplained secondary monsters, and a series of earthquakes while trying to determine whether the creature is truly dead. The manga received the New Creator Prize at the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize and the Manga Kingdom Tottori Prize from the Japan Cartoonists Association in 2026.
