Magda Szabó（マグダ・サボー、1917–2007）は、ハンガリーの小説家、詩人。20世紀ハンガリー文学を代表する作家の一人であり、家族、記憶、歴史、女性の生き方、個人と国家の関係をテーマにした作品で国際的に高い評価を受けている。第二次世界大戦後に詩人としてデビューしたが、共産主義政権下では一時創作活動を制限された。その後、小説家として活躍し、繊細な心理描写と道徳的・歴史的な問いを織り込んだ作品を数多く発表した。作品は40以上の言語に翻訳され、現代ヨーロッパ文学を代表する作家の一人として世界中で読み継がれている。
Magda Szabó (1917–2007) was a Hungarian novelist and poet, widely regarded as one of the most important figures in twentieth-century Hungarian literature. Her works explore themes of family, memory, history, women's lives, and the relationship between the individual and the state. Although she began her career as a poet after the Second World War, her writing was temporarily suppressed under Hungary's communist regime. She later achieved international acclaim as a novelist, celebrated for her psychological depth, moral complexity, and elegant prose. Translated into more than forty languages, Szabó's novels continue to be read around the world and are recognized as enduring classics of modern European literature.
