ルーシー・ウッド（Lucy Wood）は、イギリスの小説家、短編作家。コーンウォールで育ち、エクセター大学で英文学を学んだのち、クリエイティブ・ライティングの修士号を取得した。コーンウォールの風景や伝承を現代の日常生活と重ね合わせた作品で知られ、デビュー短篇集『潜水鐘に乗って』（原題 Diving Belles）でサマセット・モーム賞とHolyer an Gof Awardを受賞。海の底へ夫を探しに行く老女、家に棲みつく精霊、願いをかなえる巨人など、コーンウォールに伝わる民話や伝説を現代に置き換え、海辺の町で暮らす人々の孤独や喪失、家族や土地との結びつきを幻想的な出来事を交えて描いている。
Lucy Wood is a British novelist and short-story writer who grew up in Cornwall. She studied English literature at the University of Exeter and later earned a master’s degree in creative writing. Her fiction is closely rooted in the Cornish landscape and often brings local folklore into contemporary everyday life. Her debut collection, "Diving Belles," received the Somerset Maugham Award and the Holyer an Gof Award. Its stories reimagine Cornish myths and legends through characters including an elderly woman descending beneath the sea in search of her husband, household spirits, and a wish-granting giant, blending the supernatural with stories of loneliness, loss, family, and attachment to place.
