Luciano Floridi (born 1964) is an Italian philosopher specializing in the philosophy of information, the philosophy of technology, and digital ethics. He has played a major role in developing the philosophy of information, treating information not simply as data processed by computers but as a fundamental concept for understanding human beings, society, and the world. His work also examines the ethical and philosophical consequences of the internet, artificial intelligence, big data, and other digital technologies, including their effects on privacy, responsibility, human decision-making, and social institutions. In his major work, "The Philosophy of Information," Floridi investigates the nature of information and its relationship to knowledge, truth, meaning, and reality, developing a philosophical framework for understanding the world through the concept of information.
