The Washington Post、New York、The New Republic、Texas Monthlyなどに寄稿した。
Roxanna Asgarian is a Texas-based journalist covering child welfare and the law. Her reporting has appeared in The Washington Post, New York, The New Republic and Texas Monthly. Working in Houston, she investigated the experiences of children separated from their birth parents through foster care and adoption. We Were Once a Family: A Story of Love, Death, and Child Removal in America examines the 2018 deaths of six adopted children and their adoptive parents, Jennifer and Sarah Hart. Asgarian sought out the children's birth families and traced the official decisions that had taken the children far from them. By connecting family histories with the actions of child-welfare agencies, she investigated racial bias, poverty and failures of protection within the system. The project received the J. Anthony Lukas Work-in-Progress Award before publication. The completed book won the National Book Critics Circle Award, the Andrew Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Nonfiction and the Los Angeles Times Book Prize.
