(The Notebook: A History of Thinking on Paper)を著した。
Roland Allen is a British publisher and author. In “The Notebook: A History of Thinking on Paper,” he traces how one of the most ordinary tools in everyday life has shaped the ways people record, remember, and develop ideas. Moving from account books, sketchbooks, and travel journals to diaries, recipe books, writers’ notebooks, and contemporary bullet journals, Allen follows the history of writing on paper from the Mediterranean world and medieval Europe to the practices of modern artists, scientists, and ordinary users. Drawing on notebooks associated with figures such as Leonardo da Vinci, Albert Einstein, and Frida Kahlo, he presents the notebook as more than a storage device: it is an “extended mind” that helps people organize thought, support memory, and generate new ideas.
