ロバート・マクファーレン（Robert Macfarlane、1976年 - ）イギリスの作家、自然文学者、ケンブリッジ大学英文学教授。ケンブリッジ大学で学び、フェローを務めるエマニュエル・カレッジを拠点に研究と執筆を続けている。自然、風景、人間の歴史を文学、地理学、環境思想の視点から描く作品で国際的に高い評価を受け、現代を代表するネイチャーライターの一人とされる。代表作『アンダーランド――記憶、隠喩、禁忌、そして地下世界へ』は、洞窟や氷河、地下墓地など世界各地の地下世界を巡り、人類と大地との深い関わりを壮大なスケールで描いたノンフィクションである。本書は2019年のWainwright Prizeを受賞し、多くのメディアで年間ベストブックに選ばれた。

Robert Macfarlane (born 1976) is a British writer, nature author, and Professor of Literature and the Environmental Humanities at the University of Cambridge. Educated at Cambridge, he is a Fellow of Emmanuel College, where he combines academic research with an acclaimed writing career. His books explore the relationships between landscape, language, memory, and the natural world, earning him international recognition as one of the leading voices in contemporary nature writing. His best-known book, "Underland: A Deep Time Journey," is an exploration of caves, glaciers, catacombs, and other subterranean landscapes that reflects on humanity's connection to the Earth across deep time. The book won the 2019 Wainwright Prize and was widely named one of the year's best books.
