略歴(Biography)
Robert K. Greenleaf (1904–1990) An American management thinker and consultant who developed the modern concept of servant leadership. After graduating from Carleton College, he spent 38 years at AT&T, working in management, research, development, and education. Following his retirement, he founded the Center for Applied Ethics and worked as a consultant, teacher, and writer. In his 1970 essay "The Servant as Leader," Greenleaf proposed that leadership begins with the desire to serve others and to support their growth and autonomy. In "Servant Leadership," he developed this idea across organizations, businesses, education, foundations, and other institutions, presenting an approach to leadership grounded not in the exercise of power or position but in service to others.
