ロバート・キャロ（Robert Caro、1935–）は、アメリカのジャーナリスト、伝記作家。徹底した資料調査と長年にわたる現地取材を通して、政治権力が社会や人々の暮らしをどのように変えるのかを描いてきた。ニューヨークの都市開発を主導したロバート・モーゼスや、第36代アメリカ大統領リンドン・B・ジョンソンの生涯を追った伝記で知られ、ピューリッツァー賞を2度受賞している。代表作 "The Power Broker" では、選挙で選ばれていない一人の行政官が巨大な権力を築く過程をたどり、都市計画と民主主義、権力の本質を壮大なスケールで描いている。
Robert Caro (1935–) is an American journalist and biographer. Through exhaustive archival research and years of field reporting, he has examined how political power is acquired, exercised, and used to reshape institutions and people's lives. He is best known for his biographies of New York master builder Robert Moses and U.S. President Lyndon B. Johnson and has received two Pulitzer Prizes. His landmark book, "The Power Broker", traces how an unelected public official accumulated extraordinary influence, offering a sweeping exploration of urban planning, democracy, and the nature of power.
