ロブ・ライヒ（Rob Reich）は、アメリカの政治学者、政治哲学者。スタンフォード大学で科学技術の社会倫理学および政治学の教授を務め、政治哲学を基盤に、AIをはじめとする先端技術のガバナンス、民主主義、公共政策、社会的公正の関係を研究している。同大学の人間中心AI研究所（HAI）のシニアフェローを務め、2024～25年には米国AI Safety Instituteのシニア・アドバイザーを務めた。代表作『システム・エラー社会 「最適化」至上主義の罠』（原題 "System Error: Where Big Tech Went Wrong and How We Can Reboot"、メラン・サハミ、ジェレミー・M・ワインスタインとの共著）では、シリコンバレーを支えてきた効率性や最適化の思想が、プライバシー、公平性、民主主義などの価値と衝突する過程を検証し、巨大テクノロジー企業とデジタル技術を社会がどのように統治すべきかを論じている。
Rob Reich is an American political scientist and political philosopher whose work examines the governance of emerging technologies and their relationship to democracy, public policy, and social justice. He is the McGregor-Girand Professor of Social Ethics of Science and Technology and Professor of Political Science at Stanford University, as well as a Senior Fellow at the Stanford Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence (HAI). In 2024–25, he served as a Senior Advisor to the U.S. Artificial Intelligence Safety Institute. In "System Error: Where Big Tech Went Wrong and How We Can Reboot," co-authored with Mehran Sahami and Jeremy M. Weinstein, Reich examines how Silicon Valley's emphasis on efficiency and optimization can conflict with values such as privacy, fairness, and democracy, and considers how society can better govern powerful technology companies and digital systems.
