Mike Omer (born 1979) is a novelist of crime fiction, psychological suspense, and fantasy. Born in Israel and based in Ireland, he worked as a journalist, game developer, and CEO of the game company Loadingames before pursuing his writing career. After publishing young-adult fiction, he turned primarily to mysteries with “Spider’s Web” in 2016. Set in the fictional town of Glenmore Park, the novel follows a serial killer who warns young women shortly before attacking them, while the investigation becomes personal for a detective whose family is drawn into danger. In 2021, Omer began his Abby Mullen trilogy, shifting attention to the ways an investigator uses conversation and psychological insight to intervene in a crisis. Its first novel, “A Deadly Influence,” appeared in Japanese in 2026 as “Hitojichi Koshonin.” An ordinary family faces a five-million-dollar ransom demand for an abducted child, and an NYPD hostage negotiator investigates what lies behind it. Omer also writes fantasy as Alex Rivers, including collaborations with C. N. Crawford. His 2023 standalone “Please Tell Me” centers on a nine-year-old girl who returns after an abduction but refuses to speak, and the child therapist trying to reach her. Scenes the girl acts out in a dollhouse point toward unsolved murders, bringing play-based communication, traumatic memory, and criminal investigation together in a psychological thriller.
