Matti Friedman（マティ・フリードマン）は、カナダ生まれのイスラエル人ジャーナリスト、ノンフィクション作家。トロントで育ち、17歳でイスラエルへ移住した。かつてAssociated Pressエルサレム支局で記者・編集者を務め、中東各地を取材した経験を持つ。現在は The Free Press のコラムニストとして活動し、中東情勢、イスラエル、ユダヤ史、戦争、メディアを主なテーマに執筆を続けている。綿密な取材と歴史的背景への深い理解をもとに、複雑な政治・社会問題を人間の視点から描く作風で高い評価を受けている。ジャーナリズムと歴史叙述を融合させたノンフィクションを通じて、中東の現実とその歴史的背景を国際的な読者に伝える重要な書き手の一人である。
Matti Friedman is a Canadian-Israeli journalist and nonfiction author. Born in Toronto, he immigrated to Israel at the age of seventeen and later served in the Israel Defense Forces before beginning a career in journalism. He was a reporter and editor in the Jerusalem bureau of the Associated Press and has reported from across the Middle East, including Lebanon, Egypt, and Morocco. He is currently a columnist for The Free Press, writing on Israel, the Middle East, Jewish history, war, and the media. Known for combining meticulous reporting with historical insight and compelling narrative, Friedman has established himself as one of the leading interpreters of the modern Middle East, bringing nuance and historical perspective to some of the region's most complex issues.
