マーク・コヤマ（Mark Koyama） イギリスの経済史家、政治経済学者。フロリダ大学ハミルトン・スクール教授。オックスフォード大学で経済学の博士号を取得し、ヨーロッパの経済成長、国家形成、宗教的自由の起源、制度の発展などをテーマに、経済史と政治経済学を横断する研究を行っている。制度や文化が長期的な経済発展に果たした役割の解明で知られ、歴史的視点から現代の繁栄の起源を探る研究を数多く発表している。代表作『「豊かさ」の誕生 成長と発展の文明史』（原題："How the World Became Rich: The Historical Origins of Economic Growth"）は、ジャレド・ルービンとの共著で、なぜ持続的な経済成長が一部の地域で実現したのかを制度、文化、政治、技術など多面的な視点から解き明かし、経済発展の歴史を包括的に描いた入門書として高く評価されている。
Mark Koyama is a British economic historian and political economist, and Professor of Political Economy at the Hamilton School of the University of Florida. His research explores the historical origins of economic growth, state capacity, religious freedom, and institutional development, combining insights from economic history and political economy. He is widely recognized for his work on how institutions and culture have shaped long-run economic development. His best-known book, "How the World Became Rich: The Historical Origins of Economic Growth," co-authored with Jared Rubin, explains why sustained economic growth emerged in some societies but not others, offering an accessible synthesis of modern research on the origins of global prosperity.
