Marilynne Robinson（マリリン・ロビンソン、1943年生まれ）は、アメリカの小説家、エッセイスト。ブラウン大学卒業後、ワシントン大学で英文学の博士号（Ph.D.）を取得した。信仰、家族、記憶、孤独、人間の善性を静謐で詩情豊かな文体で描く作品で高く評価され、現代アメリカ文学を代表する作家・思想家の一人とされる。1980年のデビュー作『Housekeeping』で高い評価を受け、2004年刊行の『Gilead』は、アイオワ州の老牧師が息子に宛てて綴る手紙という形式で人生と信仰を描いた長編小説として、2005年のピューリッツァー賞 フィクション部門を受賞した。その後も『Home』『Lila』『Jack』と続く「ギリアド」シリーズを発表している。著書に『Housekeeping』『Gilead』『Home』『Lila』『Jack』のほか、エッセイ集『When I Was a Child I Read Books』『What Are We Doing Here?』などがある。

Marilynne Robinson (born 1943) is an American novelist and essayist. After graduating from Brown University, she earned a Ph.D. in English from the University of Washington. Widely regarded as one of the leading voices in contemporary American literature, Robinson is celebrated for her luminous prose and profound explorations of faith, family, memory, solitude, and human goodness. Her debut novel Housekeeping (1980) established her literary reputation, while Gilead (2004), the story of an aging Iowa minister writing a final letter to his young son, won the 2005 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction. She later expanded the world of Gilead with the companion novels Home, Lila, and Jack. Her other notable works include the essay collections When I Was a Child I Read Books and What Are We Doing Here?.
