略歴(Biography)

Marietje Schaake(マリエチェ・シャーケ、1978年生まれ)は、オランダの政治家、国際政策研究者、作家。ライデン大学で教養学を学び、アメリカ、イタリアで国際関係を学んだ。2009年から2019年まで欧州議会議員を務め、デジタル政策、国際貿易、人権、外交、安全保障を中心に活動した。退任後は、スタンフォード大学サイバー政策センター国際政策フェローを経て、現在は同大学Cyber Policy CenterおよびInstitute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence(HAI)の国際政策ディレクターを務めている。テクノロジー企業の影響力、AIガバナンス、デジタル民主主義、サイバーセキュリティを専門とし、民主主義社会におけるテクノロジーの統治について国際的に発信を続けている。2024年刊行の『テック・クーデター』(原題:The Tech Coup: How to Save Democracy from Silicon Valley)では、巨大テクノロジー企業への権力集中が民主主義や国家主権に及ぼす影響を分析し、民主的なガバナンスを取り戻すための方策を提言している。

Marietje Schaake (born 1978) is a Dutch politician, international policy expert, and author. She studied liberal arts at Leiden University and international relations in the United States and Italy. From 2009 to 2019, she served as a Member of the European Parliament, where she focused on digital policy, international trade, human rights, foreign affairs, and security. After leaving elected office, she joined Stanford University, where she serves as International Policy Director at the Cyber Policy Center and the Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence (HAI). Schaake is widely recognized for her work on technology governance, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and the relationship between democracy and digital power. Her book The Tech Coup: How to Save Democracy from Silicon Valley (2024) argues that democratic governments must reclaim authority from powerful technology companies to protect public institutions and individual freedoms.
