Mariano Mattei is a cybersecurity and AI specialist based in the United States and an adjunct professor in the Computer and Information Sciences Department at Temple University. He began his career as a software engineer and spent more than 19 years at IBM, where his responsibilities included managing a team that resolved technical problems at customer sites. He subsequently worked as a cybersecurity and CISO consultant, helping organizations address governance, risk management, and regulatory compliance. In 2022, he was appointed Vice President of Cybersecurity at Azzur Group. His work has focused on biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and medical devices, combining cybersecurity measures with AI capabilities in clinical trials, manufacturing, and quality management systems. He holds a master’s degree in cyber defense and information assurance from Temple University and the Certified Chief Information Security Officer (CCISO) credential. Explaining how data analysis can measure and improve security performance, “Data-Driven Cybersecurity: Reducing Risk with Proven Metrics,” published in Japanese as “Jissen Data Kudo Cyber Security,” covers the design of metrics aligned with organizational goals, threat detection, incident response, and recovery. It also explores data collection and analysis with Python and Jupyter notebooks, real-time dashboards, statistical methods, machine learning, and generative AI. For CISOs and security managers, the book shows how to turn technical measurements into information executives can understand and use when setting priorities and making investment decisions.
