マーカス・デュ・ソートイ（Marcus du Sautoy、1965年 - ）は、イギリスの数学者。オックスフォード大学数学研究所教授で、「科学啓蒙のためのシモニー教授職」を務める。群論や数論を専門とする一方、数学の魅力を一般の読者に伝える活動にも力を注ぎ、BBCのテレビ・ラジオ番組や著作を通じて、素数、対称性、数学の未解決問題からAIと創造性まで幅広いテーマを紹介してきた。2001年にロンドン数学会のバーウィック賞を受賞し、英国王立協会フェローにも選出されている。代表作『素数の音楽』（原題 "The Music of the Primes"）では、素数の分布に隠された規則性をめぐる数学者たちの探究を、リーマン予想を中心に描く。リーマン、ヒルベルト、ラマヌジャンなどの数学者たちの発見と試行錯誤をたどりながら、単純に見える素数の背後に現代数学最大級の未解決問題が存在することを明らかにしている。
Marcus du Sautoy (born 1965) is a British mathematician specializing in group theory and number theory. He is Professor of Mathematics at the University of Oxford and holds the Simonyi Professorship for the Public Understanding of Science. A Fellow of the Royal Society, he has combined mathematical research with extensive public engagement through books and BBC television and radio programs, exploring subjects ranging from prime numbers, symmetry, and unsolved mathematical problems to artificial intelligence and creativity. He received the London Mathematical Society's Berwick Prize in 2001. In "The Music of the Primes," du Sautoy traces mathematicians' attempts to understand the hidden patterns in the distribution of prime numbers, focusing on the Riemann Hypothesis. Through the work and lives of figures including Riemann, Hilbert, and Ramanujan, he shows how the apparently simple sequence of prime numbers leads to one of the deepest unresolved problems in modern mathematics.
