Noko Kuze (born 1976) is a Japanese primatologist specializing in the study of orangutans. Through extensive fieldwork in the tropical forests of Indonesia and Malaysia, she has studied the ecology, behavior, reproduction, and parenting of wild orangutans. Alongside her scientific research, she has been involved in conservation and public outreach aimed at protecting orangutans and their forest habitats and communicating scientific knowledge to a wider audience. In "Orangutan ni Aitai," she draws on her own experiences tracking orangutans in the rainforest to describe their feeding, movement, parent-child relationships, and development, showing how these great apes, despite their close relationship to humans, have evolved a distinctive way of life in which adults spend much of their time alone in the forest.
