Fumihito Kuroki is a Japanese translator of English-language nonfiction and fiction. His work spans history, science, culture, and crime. In W. David Marx’s “Status and Culture,” he translated an account of how the pursuit of social standing influences taste, fashion, group identity, and cultural change. He also translated Moisés Naím and Quico Toro’s book on contemporary con artists, published in Japanese as “Dejitaru Jidai no Petenshi-tachi.” It examines how manipulation and fraud expand through social media and artificial intelligence. Kuroki’s fiction translations include Michael Wendroff’s crime novel published as “Shijo Saiaku no Aibo,” alongside his broader work introducing investigations of contemporary society.
