久保 恵美子（KUBO Emiko）- 翻訳家

久保恵美子（くぼ えみこ、1969–2019年）は、経済や経済思想を中心に英語の著作を訳した日本の翻訳家。東京大学経済学部卒業。グレゴリー・クラークの『10万年の世界経済史』では、長期にわたる生活水準の停滞と産業革命による変化を論じる経済史を紹介。同じ著者の『格差の世界経済史』では、姓を手がかりに世代を超えた社会的地位の継承を調べ、社会移動の速度を問い直す研究を訳している。ニコラス・ワプショットの『ケインズかハイエクか』では、不況への対応や政府と市場の役割をめぐる二人の経済学者の対立を、その時代背景とともに伝えた。経済の仕組みを、歴史的な変化や思想上の論争と結びつける著作を数多く手がけた。

Emiko Kubo (1969–2019) was a Japanese translator specializing in economics and economic thought. She graduated from the University of Tokyo’s Faculty of Economics. Gregory Clark’s “A Farewell to Alms,” published in Japanese as “10-man-nen no Sekai Keizaishi,” examines long-run living standards and the changes associated with the Industrial Revolution. Clark’s “The Son Also Rises” uses surnames to investigate the persistence of social status across generations and reassess rates of social mobility. Nicholas Wapshott’s “Keynes Hayek” traces the economists’ disagreements over responses to economic crises and the respective roles of government and markets within their historical context.
