Coolkyousinnjya is a Japanese manga artist and manga story creator who moved from posting comics online to serializing work in commercial magazines. After sharing drawings on the internet, the artist joined the webcomic community Neetsha and continued making manga through exchanges with other creators and readers’ comments. In an interview with Tokyo Manga Lab, Coolkyousinnjya described making a habit of drawing a few pages amid everyday activities. The first collected book, “Danna ga Nani o Itteiru ka Wakaranai Ken” (“I Can’t Understand What My Husband Is Saying”), appeared in 2011. Its four-panel episodes follow an otaku husband and his wife Kaoru, whose interests and temperament differ from his. Looking back at comics in an old notebook prompted the project, and the publication of the online work marked a move into commercial manga. The first original magazine serial, “Komori-san wa Kotowarenai!” (“Komori-san Can’t Decline”), follows Shuri Komori, a schoolgirl unable to refuse requests, as she grows up alongside her friends. The series ran from 2012 to 2025 and concluded in thirteen volumes. “Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid” began in the inaugural issue of Monthly Action in 2013. It centres on office worker Kobayashi and Tohru, a dragon who becomes her live-in maid after Kobayashi saves her life. On the official website, Coolkyousinnjya explained that the premise grew from imagining a maid waiting at home, while dragons from mythology and folklore supplied ideas for the cast. The series expanded into spin-offs drawn by other manga artists and an English-language edition. Television adaptations in 2017 and 2021 were followed by an animated feature film in 2025.
