幸田文(こうだ あや、1904–1990)は、日本の小説家、随筆家。作家・幸田露伴の次女として生まれ、結婚と離婚を経て父のもとに戻り、その晩年の生活と看病を支えた。露伴の死後、父を回想した「雑記」「終焉」「葬送の記」などを発表して文壇に登場し、家事、家族、着物、樹木といった身近な題材を、鋭い観察と簡潔な文章で描いた。『黒い裾』で読売文学賞を受賞し、『流れる』では新潮社文学賞と日本芸術院賞を受賞。『流れる』は、没落しかけた芸者置屋に女中として住み込む中年女性・梨花の視点から、華やかな花柳界の裏側で働く女性たちの生活、金銭をめぐる衝突、家の崩壊を描いた小説である。
Aya Koda (1904–1990) was a Japanese novelist and essayist. The second daughter of the writer Rohan Koda, she returned to her father’s home after her divorce and cared for him during his final years. After his death, she entered literary life with memoirs including “Zakki,” “Shuen,” and “Soso no Ki,” then wrote fiction and essays distinguished by close observation of domestic work, family relationships, clothing, trees, and the material details of everyday life. She received the Yomiuri Prize for “Kuroi Suso,” while “Nagareru” (“Flowing”) won both the Shinchosha Literary Prize and the Japan Art Academy Prize. The novel follows Rika, a middle-aged maid who enters a declining geisha house and observes the women’s work, financial conflicts, and the gradual collapse of their household from behind its elegant public façade.
