Sumi Konno, born in 1952 in Tokyo, is a Japanese tanka poet. She received the Kadokawa Tanka Prize in 1979 for a sequence of fifty poems titled “Gogo no Sho” and co-founded the tanka journal “Ritomu” in 1992, serving as its editor. Her collection “Seikimatsu no Momo” received the Contemporary Women’s Tanka Prize, and she has also served as a selector for the Imperial New Year’s Poetry Reading.
