Cormac McCarthy（コーマック・マッカーシー、1933–2023）は、アメリカの小説家、劇作家。テネシー大学ノックスビル校で学んだ後、1959年に作家デビューした。アメリカ南部やメキシコ国境地帯を舞台に、暴力、文明、道徳、人間存在を壮大なスケールで描く作品で高く評価され、20世紀後半から21世紀初頭を代表するアメリカ文学の巨匠の一人とされる。2006年刊行の『The Road』は、文明崩壊後の世界を旅する父と子の姿を描いた黙示録的長編小説として世界的な評価を受け、2007年のピューリッツァー賞 フィクション部門を受賞した。代表作に『Blood Meridian』『All the Pretty Horses』『No Country for Old Men』『The Road』、『The Passenger』『Stella Maris』などがある。

Cormac McCarthy (1933–2023) was an American novelist and playwright. After studying at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, he began his literary career in 1959. Widely regarded as one of the greatest American writers of the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries, McCarthy explored violence, morality, civilization, and the human condition through powerful, lyrical prose set largely in the American South and the U.S.–Mexico borderlands. His novel The Road (2006), a haunting post-apocalyptic story of a father and son struggling to survive, won the 2007 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction. His other major works include Blood Meridian, All the Pretty Horses, No Country for Old Men, The Passenger, and Stella Maris.
