Ryosuke Kakine (1966–) is a Japanese novelist who worked for a trading company before becoming a full-time writer. His work ranges from international thrillers to historical fiction, often combining meticulous research with dynamic storytelling. He made his literary debut in 2000 after winning both the Suntory Mystery Award and the Readers' Award for "Gozen Sanji no Rooster" ("The Rooster at Three A.M."). In 2023, he received the 169th Naoki Prize for "Gokuraku Seii Taishōgun" ("The Blissful Shogun"). Reimagining the life of Ashikaga Takauji, the founder of the Muromachi shogunate, the novel offers a vivid portrait of leadership and political upheaval in medieval Japan.
