Kawajirō (born 1992) is a Japanese manga artist from Kumamoto Prefecture. He began drawing manga seriously at the age of twenty-nine and studied storytelling at the Genron Hirameki Manga School, where he received the fifth Genron Hirameki Manga Grand Prize. He later won the Grand Prize in the youth manga division of Shogakukan’s 93rd Newcomer Comic Awards for “Course Rope” and now works as both a company employee and manga artist. His representative work and first collection, “Atarashii Tomodachi: Kawajirō Tanpenshū,” received the Short Work Prize at the 30th Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize. Its ten stories portray children who feel out of place at school, a man grieving his wife, and adults caught in repetitive routines as encounters with others and small acts of resolve allow their lives to begin moving again.
